NBA Playoff History! Dallas Mavs' Luka Doncic Ties LeBron James on Rare Triple-Double List
Luka Doncic is no stranger to making NBA history. Throughout his six-year career, he has already done so several times, both in the regular season and in the postseason. During the Dallas Mavericks series-clinching win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Saturday night, Doncic did it once again after tallying a 29-point triple-double.
With that stat line, Doncic tied Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James for second place on the NBA's all-time list for 25-point playoff triple-doubles with five. Hall-of-Famer Oscar Robertson holds the top spot on the list with seven 25-point triple-doubles in the postseason.
“We won the series. That’s what matters in the end," Doncic said. "We didn’t have home [court] advantage, which is great. [It’s] great that we won. Struggles are going to come. You have to stay positive and keep hooping. You can impact the game in other ways, not just by shooting poorly.”
The Mavs' front office being able to put high-quality depth around Doncic has enabled him to keep making NBA history while also winning games in the process. What GM Nico Harrison has done over the last 12 months hasn't just raised the Mavs' ceiling now, but it has raised the ceiling for the future while also keeping Doncic happy, which is the most important aspect.
“Big time," Doncic said of the Mavs' front office doing everything within its power to put a winning roster together. "This group has been together for like five months. We’re capable of more and more. Big-time trades and big-time adjustments. Keep bringing them.”
At the rate the Mavs are going, Doncic might not only be joining LeBron in statistical accomplishments. Dallas has the look of a true title contender and has a legitimate chance to be the last team standing come June.
