Dallas Mavs Injury Report: Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving Active vs. Orlando Magic

The Dallas Mavericks are playing their first back-to-back against the Orlando Magic on Monday night, and star point guards Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving were on the injury report with just hours until tip-off.

Following a thrilling 15-point comeback win over the Charlotte Hornets, the Dallas Mavericks are preparing to take on the young-and-improved Orlando Magic on Monday night. It will be Dallas' first back-to-back of the season. Last year, the Mavs went 3-10 on the second night of back-to-backs.

Although the Mavs are 5-1 through six games, that record hasn't come easy, as they've played in five clutch games already (with a league-best 5-0 clutch record). Things could have been more difficult on Monday, as the Mavs originally listed star point guards Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving as questionable, along with Maxi Kleber, who has missed the last two games.

Doncic is dealing with a quad injury that has hampered him since last season, and Irving is dealing with a foot sprain. Both Doncic and Irving were considered active to play when Mavs coach Jason Kidd provided the pre-game injury status report to reporters. Kleber was described as a game-time decision.

The Dallas Mavericks could be without their star duo in Orlando on Monday night.

During the win over Charlotte, Doncic put up 23 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists, and Irving contributed with 18 points and 10 assists. It was the first time two Mavs had at least nine assists in the same game since January 2022, when Doncic and former Mavs guard Jalen Brunson did it. Irving's points-assists double-double marked just the second time he's accomplished that feat since being with the Mavs.

If Irving and Doncic don't play, the Mavs still have a chance to beat the Magic due to how the rest of their roster is player. Rookie big man Dereck Lively II is coming off a 15-point, 14-rebound performance, and Grant Williams poured in 18 points of his own against Charlotte while shooting 4-5 from deep.

Second-year guard Jaden Hardy is another guy to keep an eye on. He has produced well in a limited bench role over the last few games, but he might have his role expanded in Orlando tonight. Stay tuned to DallasBasketball.com for more updates ahead of tip-off.
