Can Mavs 'Win The Trade' in Julius Randle Homecoming from Knicks?

Can Dallas Mavs 'Win The Trade' in Julius Randle Homecoming from Knicks?

DALLAS - A Dallas Mavs trade for hometown guy Julius Randle would certainly solve one problem. ...

The Mavs wouldn't have to play against him any longer.

By repuation, Randle - now with the New York Knicks - sees his eyes light up when playing against Dallas. And seriously, now come some suggestions of ways to solve that ...

And maybe a way to make the Mavs roster even better.

Luka Doncic, Dallas Mavericks, New York Knicks, Julius Randle

The Knicks don't seem to know what to do with Randle as they just loaded up on wings to play alongside Jalen Brunson, the ex-Mavs guard turned New York sensation.

So here comes one internet guess: New York nets P.J. Washington Jr., Maxi Kleber, Olivier-Maxence Prosper, and the Mavs 2025 first-round pick. That's ... a lot of bodies.

Another idea: A mock trade from Bleacher Report would bring Randle to the Mavericks for a package of P.J. Washington, Daniel Gafford, Jaden Hardy, and some second-round picks.

Again, those are bodies, some with value.

But from a Mavs perspective? The core would be Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson, Dereck Lively and Julius Randle.

On paper, that works … at least on the offensive end of the floor.

But there is this: One long-standing measure of which team "won the trade'' is which team received not the "most players,'' but the "best player.''

And that would be Julius Randle ... right?
