Jameer Nelson talks about the new-look Dallas Mavericks and more in this Q-and-A with "Shan & RJ" on 105.3 The Fan:

DONUT 1: On moving to Big D ...

"There are some great neighborhoods that we are looking at, and there are a lot of great neighborhoods in Dallas. I have four kids, so you want to find good schools so that transition is easy. And I definitely want to be close to the arena and practice.

"We're looking ... But I try to let my wife do that."

DONUT 2: On eating out ...

"I love restaurants and a good meal. I can't eat at those (fast-food) spots. At least not during the season. I've got to put only the best fuel in my body.''

DONUT 3: On eating in ...

"I can cook! Whatever you want to eat. I am not afraid of the kitchen. When I go in, I go in deep. I get into a zone and start making things ... I have of an imagination. A lot of people don't think they can cook because they fear it but I've grown up and watched my mom and dad cook; to me, it's just second nature.''

DONUT 4: On all the food questions ...

"It's like you guys think I'm fat or something!''

DONUT 5: On ex-teammate Dwight Howard ...

"I haven't been around him in the last three years but when I was around him he was a great guy, worked hard and played hard. Last couple years he's gotten in trouble with some things he's said and done. That's human nature; we are all under a microscope.''

DONUT 6: On why he chose the Mavs ...

"I narrowed it down to a couple of teams, but I went with the best fit for me. It wasn't about the money, really - though of course you want to get paid. But it's about Mark Cuban, who is always for his players. And Carlisle is a good coach and Donnie Nelson is great about managing the team.

"From talking to different coaches and different GMs, this came to be the team I wanted to go to and the team that wanted me most.''

DONUT 7: On Carlisle Style ...

"With Carlisle, a lot of times it's just 'you go play.' You don't always have to run the play. He let's you get in transition and they run lots of pick-and-rolls. The adjustments I've seen him make over the course of my career during games has just been great. And the guy obviously knows what he's doing; he's won a championship.''

DONUT 8: On Mavs firepower ...

"Looking at the offseason acquisitions that they picked up, it's Parsons, Richard Jefferson, Raymond Felton, Tyson Chandler in that trade, you have Dirk there - one of the greatest players ever,'' he said. "And Monta Ellis is a great player.

"For me it's the best fit because you have a lot of firepower, a lot of shooting, a lot of veterans, a lot of guys who can handle the ball.''

DONUT 9: On his makeup ...

"I'm a scorer. My makeup is that I'm a scorer. Not necessarily for me; I want the team to score. But I always want to be in attack mode. So I have a scoring mentality, whether that means I need to make the right pass I or score.''

DONUT 10: On team management ...
Smile
"I am a guy who knows how to manage a team and manage the clock. In the last 10 years I've been put in a lot of different situations with different makeups of teams. (In Dallas) it'll be new to me as far as knowing these guys, knowing where each guy likes the ball. But once we get that down, we will be rolling.''

DONUT 11: Listen to the visit ...

12: The Final Word ...

"I don't want to put down any predictions on how far we can go or how we can be seeded for the playoffs. My philosophy is try to bond, get better and try to win. Right now it's only (summer); you can't win a championship right now. You have to take the steps to win.'' -- Jameer Nelson.
